Book Review – Canvas of Life by Rabjot Singh Isher

I love love love the cover! It gives out positive vibes already! But the book is no less.

Canvas of Life, as the title suggests is a beautiful collection of stories of life. The expression of speech used by the author here is commendable!

The stories are such that they make you introspect on your own lifestyle. Stories about people fighting different battles in life and emerging out like a true warrior is inspiring. A beautiful book which gives us some life lessons.

Every story is unique in itself but all of them together give out the only message that life is full of ups and downs, everybody is fighting their own battles that we are unaware of. All we gotta do in challenging situations is to hang on, and not give up.

Praiseworthy narration, devoid of any major errors, the book is perfectly eligible to be on the bookshelf of every reader out there!

Book Review – Do I still have a chance by Dhayakar Reddy

Do I still have a chance, is a good book. Romance fiction, the genre. I won’t deny that I’ve read better but this one provides a different perspective.

I loved the part of the story where the author talks about the character of Sathya being a middle class guy and the kind of issues he faces in his love life. That was majorly the highlight of this book for me. The romance part I didn’t like much. Involving 2 girls, the guy being confused between the two. The plot didn’t appeal me much

It’s anyway good for a one time read. A light book that you can carry on a long leisure journey

Book Review – Confused Bastards by Manav Vigg

The title of this book is so catchy, that I decided to order it as soon as my friend suggested it to me. Well, both of us being youngsters could connect extremely well with the book.

The discontent being faced by the three main characters of Akash, Jai and Vivek is humorous, sometimes witty and much fun to read.

This one is a light and relaxing read of about 4-5 hours and is sure to make you feel relatable at many points which is enjoyable by most of the young readers.

Personally I loved the title and cover even more than the story. So kudos to that!

The chapters each describe different incidents for some of them and later it is more about the platform these 3 co-create.

It is a pleasure to read how and what problems they face in their new startup and how they overcome the same, or do they fail?

Well, I suggest you grab your copy and find out.

Book Review – The Leeway Towers by Abhih Singh

It took me a while to finish this one! Nevertheless, it proved to be a thought provoking story for me.

This book, The Leeway Towers by Author Abhi’s Singh, highlights some aspects of the social, cultural and political issues being faced globally today!

The fact that the whole world is running out of resources and the time isn’t far when there will be wars among nations to fight for things as basic as water, food and shelter. So the inspiration of the author is quite evident. And I’m glad someone finally picked up the much needed issues to be addressed.

Through the story of a young boy named Kali, and his grandpa as the main characters, the author has perfectly described the scenario in 2 parts, in the years 2020 and 2034. The book is slow paced but every paragraph, everything about the story makes you think about what the world is becoming today and also works as an eye opener, to take precautions because if we don’t, then we might have to face the consequences regardless of whether we are at fault or not.

I loved the narration, however at some points there were details which kinda felt dragged, but all in all the story was a great read and most importantly, I learnt a lot from it.

Title and cover are also quite intriguing and attractive, which is why in the first place I bought this book!

Cheers to Abhih for curating such a powerful book.

Book Review – One step short to the moon…IIT vs Love by Pratik Shelke

IIT vs LOVE

Well, the title explains it all, but there’s still more to it.

This book by Pratik Shelke is a story of Pratik Shinde, who, just like most of us would, finds himself in an emotional turmoil during the toughest phase of his life, high school!

Pratik, the main character of the book, is an IIT aspirant and the story covers his life from his school times until his admission in an engineering college.

The story is about how Pratik fights his own self more than others, to achieve a position which is not only his dream, but also his family’s, especially his uncle. The kind of atrocities he goes through at his coaching centre, and the way he comes out triumphantly out of every situation is applaud worthy! The one time when he helps his friend get out of the campus because he’s supposed to attend his father’s funeral was a very interesting part of the story.

Then comes the part where the girls are involved. Just like every other teen of his age, Pratik also gets distracted by his feelings and ends up ruining his exam score and IIT score which is as much a shame as it is practical. He finds it difficult to concentrate once he starts thinking about his future with his classmate, Sachi.

He starts assuming things which aren’t true from Sachi’s end and that’s where he goes wrong.

This book is a classic example of the life of a teen struggling to build a career as a successful IITian in India. If you’ve had the pleasure of being in an engineering coaching centre or an engineering college, you will definitely relate to the book and will surely find it interesting too!

The only thing I felt not up to the mark was the narration at some times. I found the book quite unnecessarily cheesy at some points but the. I could justify it for myself considering it from the perspective of a teen.

So all in all it was a worthy read for me.

Recommended to all IIT aspirants

Kudos to Pratik for writing a lovely novel and I’m surely looking forward to more of his books

Book Review – Random Subterranean by Sabarna Roy

I’ve never come across a book so amazing as this one!

It has excerpts, poetry, proses on such critical topics and issues engulfing our country, our society and the world that it’ll leave you nothing but out of words to express the level of knowledge this book has to offer to its readers.

Be it about the authors personal experiences of various places, or about politics, this book has it all.

I was so intrigued by this book that I literally took out pen and paper to take notes.

In one of the chapters, the author has mentioned about this book on Indian Parliament by Author Arundhati Roy. After reading that one chapter, I got so interested in Indian Parliament politics that I ordered this book recommendation and read it to understand more on the subject.

The title of this book – Random Subterranean Mosaic: 2012-2018 is indeed a mosaic of major events that took place between 2012 and 2018 and it has all been so perfectly curated that one cannot help but want to read more on it.

This is by far the best Fiction/Reflective writing that I’ve read!

Absolutely recommended even to non readers.

Book Review – You can make it big by Arun Malik

This book has the best lessons of life explained in minimum words.

Minimalism has been amazingly used here.

This book talks about the kind of attitude winners posses and the kind of outlook they have towards life.

It motivates every reader to work smart in life and in a series of pointers, also explains how one can achieve that.

I’m so thankful to the author for this amazing book. I’ve read it twice till now and I’m sure to read it every time I feel demotivated. This book picks you up when no one can, maybe not even yourself! And that’s the best part about it.

Book Review – Love Forever by Nisha Sahoo

The book wasn’t about love, romance. It was about lust. It’s a fast paced read but the story didn’t appeal to me at all.

For me, the beginning was great, it had some sense of mystery in terms of “What would happen next?” Between the main characters of Tia and Arjun, but other than that, the plot was quite disappointing. It seemed more fake than real.

There was a major error in the story –

When the characters meet at the college reunion party, Sheetal who is a common friend to Tia and Arjun, asks him what he’s doing in life right now, but being a “COLLEGE REUNION” isn’t it obvious that they all should be Dentists? Arjun being their senior in college.

This fact made me lose interest in the story and it became a forceful read furthermore.

Book Review – Lights Scalpel Romance by Jas Kohli

Lights Scalpel Romance isn’t a hardcore medical fiction book, it’s rather a chill and humorous read at times.

The Author has succeeded in maintaining a balance between the serious narration as per the plot and adding witty humour to it at times to break the seriousness and monotony of a medical fiction read which was a great effort indeed.

I liked the character of Nipun who joined under Dr Ujjwal as a trainee and tries to become a shadow to him but doesn’t succeed in his endeavours. However, the character of Dr. Ujjwal is charismatic and adds to the charm of the book.

The storyline is unique and intriguing. There’s romance, there’s fiction and a lot more this book has to offer. A perfect one time read for all kinds of readers.

Book Review – Flights of Fantasy by Sujata Chatterjee

This book has 13 beautiful short stories to offer. Each story is unique in itself and literally every single story will leave an impact on you so strong that you will remember these stories all throughout the walk of life.

The Author has amazingly crafted the collection, penning down various emotions and experiences through the point of view of different individuals in a lifetime.

The narration was absolutely smooth and with zero errors it’s indeed a great read.

Though the stories are short, every time one ended, I wished there was more to it.

Looking forward to more such work by Sujata Ma’am
